Manager, Front End Web Development - Victoria's Secret Direct
Job Description:
PURPOSE:
The Manager of Front End Web Development leads all front-end development activities for the victoriassecret.com eCommerce platform. Position serves as strategic lead on all front-end technology decisions and is responsible for developing standards as well as leading front-end development. Position manages the selection of front-end technologies, frameworks, libraries and management of front-end codebase and presentation-layer technology portfolio, in consultation with Limited Technology Services. Serves as the primary front-end point of integration with LTS partners.
Lead Front-end Development
· Manage and deliver projects: own planning, design and implementation processes
· Plan, estimate, and manage workflow and development on multiple simultaneous projects to achieve business objectives. Establish timelines, deliver projects on budget and on time
· Prepare and communicate status, issues and opportunities to the business
· Establish and maintain all Front-end Standards: styleguides, coding standards, integration processes, QA methodologies, target platform definition
· Develop new eCommerce templates and front-end functionality
· Direct and mentor front-end web Developers
Drive Customer Experience
· Key liaison with brand leadership to prioritize, plan, and schedule site enhancements
· Keep current on emerging trends and best practices as related to business objectives
· Responsible for site compatibility and accessibility; monitor and adjust standards periodically
· Collaborate in leadership of ongoing usability analysis and ideation
· In collaboration with Creative Director and Director, ICS, commission periodic site reviews to keep aligned with best practices and identify competitive gaps as they emerge
· Propose/prototype UI enhancements to optimize usability and customer experience
· Support victoriassecret.com growth and strategic direction
Support Platform Evolution
· Consult on CMS integration and contribute to holistic design of eCommerce platform to maximize business objectives/growth
· Foster forward-looking development for alternate digital channels (including mobile)
· Own feasibility studies, time and cost estimates and the establishment and implementation of new or revised front-end features & functionality
· Assist in projecting software and hardware requirements. Identify solutions that satisfy business objectives
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Strong site-build background with both technical and visual expertise
· Ability to write validating code for xHTML, CSS Level 2, and Javascript
· Ability to write pixel-accurate code that accurately replicates a designed layout across a range of primary target platforms
· Broad JavaScript experience: interactivity, forms, plug-in detects, etc.
· Working familiarity with current frameworks for “Web 2.0” front-end development
· Rich media experience (Flash, video, etc)
REQUIREMENTS:
· Deep knowledge and discipline around web development best practices
· Write clean, well documented, modular and validating code
· Leverage Web Standards
· Experience with cookies
· Hands-on experience integrating flash components into HTML
· XML fluency
· Working knowledge of JSP, tag libraries and Java
· OOP experience ideal

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
