Product Manager, Social Media

Job Description:

TripAdvisor needs a Product Manager to help build awesome social media products and help execute on an ever changing product roadmap. This role will work on initiatives that run across all sectors of social media.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Consumer Product, we are looking for a smart Product Manager, Social Media. In this role, s/he will be a champion of the consumer’s experience by leading the definition, design, development and implementation of social media applications that allow users to experience TripAdvisor content on a variety of social networking sites, improve customer satisfaction, and enhance the value of the TripAdvisor brand.

The ideal candidate should have proven track record in product management. Candidates must be diplomatic, persuasive, organized and influential, being able to garner support from cross –functional teams. The individual must know how to influence decision makers without making enemies. Demonstrated business, communication, leadership and teamwork abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with the Product team to identify gaps in social media product functionality and content offerings, as well as to assign priority to key product areas for development

• Driving social media product definitions which translate and balance business needs, customer needs and technological capabilities into strong social media apps

• Define and prioritize application and feature development across multiple sites

• Leading cross-functional teams, serving as product and project manager, to define product specifications, establish milestones, and manage the development, implementation and marketing launch against goals

• Communicating product status, key issues and launch plans to key constituents across the TripAdvisor organization including senior management as well as engineering, design, sales, PR, editorial and customer support teams

• Measuring product performance and identification of key levers of improvement – including design and analysis of relevant reports

• Monitoring the competitive landscape, identifying and leading relevant market, site and consumer research needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 6-8 relevant years experience including at least 2+ years experience in product management at a leading internet company

• Demonstrated consumer mind-set with preference for candidates from e-commerce/B2C

• Specific experience in successfully developing and managing new product launches including a proven ability to champion products and drive to key decisions

• Experienced business judgment, BS/BA required, MBA preferred

• Excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization

• Highly detail-oriented and analytic skills absolutely required

• Teamwork skills essential; sense of humor preferred
